Sociology at Florida State University emphasizes four major areas of research and graduate training:

Health and Aging (social epidemiology, mental health, substance use, aging, and social policy)
Inequality and Social Justice (gender, race, class, and social movements)
Social Demography (fertility, mortality, migration and related social arrangements)
Social Psychology (emotion, interaction).

We also emphasize statistics and research methods as a minor area of specialization for the Ph.D. and offer several courses in these areas.
