Sociology at Florida State University emphasizes four major areas of research and graduate training:
- Health and Aging (social epidemiology, mental health, substance use, aging, and social policy)
- Inequality and Social Justice (gender, race, class, and social movements)
- Social Demography (fertility, mortality, migration and related social arrangements)
- Social Psychology (emotion, interaction).
We also emphasize statistics and research methods as a minor area of specialization for the Ph.D. and offer several courses in these areas.
